Adekunle Owoyemi & Adebayo Sanusi

The Polytechnic Iresi Press Club and the Drama, Music & Dancing Society (DMDS) had an interactive session with the principal officers of the institution 4th of November 2021.

A Cross Section of the Principal Officers and Members of the Press Club and DMDS during the Interactive Session

Present in the meeting were the Ag. Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE, Ag. Registrar, Mr. Sanni Lasisi Omotayo, the Bursar, Deacon Adejumo John and the Ag, Head of Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Mr. Salaudeen Abdullahi.

The Rector, Engr. Kadiri in his welcoming address, appreciated the Press Crew and DMDS for the job done so far by the groups and urged them to keep the flag flying. The Rector noted that the Press Club and the DMDS are the hearts of any tertiary institution as they are always at the forefront to project the image of the institution positively. In his words, “I urged you guys to be more creative and innovative by bringing up ideas that can enhance the image of the institution as this can only be achieved by the harmonious work of both the staff and the students”. In addition, he opined that the Polytechnic Iresi now has a force to reckon with and he charged the Press Club being the Fourth Estate of the Realm to work assiduously by giving out Press Releases, news articles, etc. at least twice in a week.

Furthermore, he pledged that the institution’s radio, TV, and photo studios would be completed and be ready for operation before the end of this year. He rounded up his speech by soliciting for the maximum co-operation from the Press Club and DMDS for the growth and development of the institution and the community at large.

During the interactive session, members of the Press Crew and DMDS were given the floor to ask questions related to the club/society and the institution at large where answers and thorough clarifications were duly provided to the questions by the principal officers. The Rector thereby charged members who were present in the meeting to relay the interactions with their fellow students.

Also speaking at the meeting was the Ag. Registrar, Mr. Sanni Lasisi Omotayo, where he showered encomium on the Rector for the good job done so far since he assumed office and charged the groups to always be hard working as there is no shortcut to success.

Similarly, the Bursar, Deacon John Adejumo also appreciated the impact of the Rector in the institution since his assumption of office. Deacon Adejumo charged the Press Crew to see themselves as practicing journalists since they are already in the act through their various news release. He therefore urged them to always have a nose for news as one of the utmost attributes of a good reporter.

The coordinator of the Press Club and DMDS who is also the Ag. Head, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Mr. Salaudeen Abdullahi in his speech expressed his gratitude to the principal officers for granting the groups the opportunity of the interactive session. Moreover, he enjoined the groups to always be up and doing. In the same vein, the coordinator prayed God give the Rector and other principal officers of the institution the power and strength to continue to move the institution higher and appealed to them to continue to offer necessary support to the groups.
